![]() They well may have done it when the did the last maintenance, but I can't really prove that. It shows dramatically once your standing just outside the door though. Any rate, I didn't see it when they did the last 30,000 mile inspection, as it really does not show when your riding in the car and looking at it through the windshield. Took it to the dealer and he had never heard of such, but is going to try to speak to his rep and see if they can replace at no cost. I am hoping the Kia dealership does not play games with replacing this part under warranty. Please let me know if anyone has had this problem before. Hopefully I can get a photo of the damaged part, but my computer is giving me fits at present, so no telling when I can get one downloaded to post and show the damage. This really caught me off guard, as the car has not really had any significant problems in the past and this was a first for us. I have no clue as to how and when it got broken though, other than my guess as to the above. Has anyone had a problem similar to this and what was the actual cause? We will call the Kia dealership to see if it is covered under warranty. In looking at the plastic and actually feeling it, I am thinking that the plate is made of a cheap quality plastic and gets rigid or brittle from setting out under the sun and UV light. Any rate, I don't believe it was done by vandals or that anything fell onto it and broke it. Surely they would have noticed it if it happened at that time. We just recently had the car serviced at the Kia dealership and it has always had all required service done there. There is like 4" of the plastic missing on that cover plate. I don't know how it happened or even when, but yesterday was the first time I had ever noticed the part being broken. I started to use my wife's Kia Soul yesterday and noticed that there is a large chunk of that black plastic missing beside the driver's windshield wiper. I am not sure what the part is identified as, but I am addressing the black plastic cover plate that goes just beneath the windshield wipers outside of the windshield and just above the rear edge of the hood. ![]()
